The Red Pump Project is an initiative to improve the awareness about the impact of HIV/AIDS on women and girls. Yes, HIV/AIDS affects both men and women as well as the young and mature BUT did you know out of the 1.1 million people living with HIV/AIDS that almost 280,00 of those people are women and that the largest number of HIV/AIDS diagnosis for women is aged 15-39. This makes HIV/AIDS the 5th leading death among women between the ages of 25-44.
In 2005, African-American and Latina women accounted for 82% of the estimated total of HIV/AIDS diagnosis and represented 24% of of all the US women diagnosed combined. In 2006, teen girls aged 13-19 represented 39% of reported AIDS cases meanwhile 69% were African-American and 19% Latina.
On the evening of December 1, 2010, JSW Media Group along with sponsors will present The 2nd Annual Red Pump/Red Tie Affair. A night of art, glamour, music and so much more to reduce discrimination, raise awarenes and approach disease prevention. So ladies bring out your red pumps and fellas show your best red ties, come one and come all for a good cause.
