African-Americans (up to 25 years old) who wish to pursue education and training that will allow them to master skills and launch successful careers and entrepreneurial endeavors are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be required to complete the scholarship application form, write a personal statement and submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, administrator or member of the community. YBM Leadership Conference is our premier leadership development activity for young black men between the ages of 14 and 18 and is part of a yearlong leadership development and college preparation program. The conference will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Rocky River High School from 11:00 P.M. - 5:30 P.M. Our theme this is year is Inspiring young leaders. We have put together a dynamic and exciting line up of speakers including the young millionaire Hezekiah Griggs who is the founder of HG3 Media and has been called "America's Youngest Media Mogul". The conference will also offer Parent University sessions for parents and guardians to help them raise successful young leaders. Smith University Grimes Lounge Theme: “A Response and Commitment to the Call” Males in Crisis: The value of youth and men to our community Strategies and Solutions In January 2009, the summit, “A Call to Action,” was held to bring together men from diverse social, political and economic backgrounds to develop a process to organize, plan and execute initiatives that would reshape our community through strategic leadership, collaboration, and collective empowerment. The summit purpose was to impact our community by focusing on shared goals and common interest for the benefit of males in the community.
